The Covid-19 risk in Sydney has increased and lockdown / “stay-at-home” orders have been tightened. Rest assured that we remain open, to provide essential health care for your pets when you need us. To keep all our clients and staff safe, we will need to increase our own safety protocols and restrictions. This will mean that until further notice, clients will not be able to enter the clinic with their pets. Please read the following important points.
- Procedures when you arrive at the clinic
- Please wait in your car and call us, using the dedicated number from the SMS you receive before your appointment. This number is also on notices on/near our clinic doors.
- Our staff will attend to you as quickly as possible, or will check you in to see the vet, ask what car you are waiting in, and confirm a number for us to call you back on if required.
- At the start of your consultation, our vets/staff will either come out to your car, or phone you and discuss any problems/concerns with your pet.
The we will take your pet into the clinic for examination and treatment, while you wait outside. When this is complete, we will call you or bring your pet back out to you. - If you are coming without your pet, to collect medications or food, please phone ahead, and we will try to have things ready for you in advance.
- These short-term measures will be difficult for all of us, and we appreciate your understanding as we all work through these difficult times
- All other Covid restrictions in our previous blog update still apply.
- Am I ALLOWED to leave home to come to vet?
- Yes, if you need to seek medical care for your pet
- Yes, if you need medications and food for your pet
- It would be our understanding that during these heightened restrictions, you would probably only be allowed to have ONE person leave the home to bring your pet to the vet
- Do I NEED to leave home to come to the vet?
That’s perhaps a more difficult decision for you to make but we would like to offer some guidelines:- If you pet is unwell or you’re worried, then you should come!
Don’t leave it and allow things to get worse.
If you’re not sure, you’re welcome to phone and ask.
But you don’t need our permission! We will NOT be denying anyone medical services, other than some limited things like nail-trims/grooming. - If you don’t think the visit is essential and you would prefer to stay at home, we will understand if you need to reschedule. Please phone and let us know ASAP
- Yearly vaccinations CAN be delayed a week or two if necessary while we are in lock-down.
- Puppy and kitten vaccines should be completed as near to schedule as possible. If you need to delay even a week, please call us for advice.
- We are willing to do phone consultations (you can book online) but please understand that what we can do for your pet over the phone is very limited without examination.
- Puppy preschool is on hold until further notice.
- If you pet is unwell or you’re worried, then you should come!
We are doing everything we can to offer options that enable clients to eliminate contact inside the clinic, and still receive veterinary care for your pets.
So stay at home as much as you can, enjoy the time with your pets, and know that if you need us, you just need to pick up the phone!
