At 12 weeks old now, Chisel received his first heartworm injection, which is the best way to prevent heartworm infection. Heartworm is carried by mosquitoes, so all dogs are at risk. Unlike other alternatives, the heartworm injection will kill any heartworm that Chisel may have picked up in the last 3 months, which covers him right back to birth. It will also prevent heartworm infection for the next 3-6 months. At this time, Chisel will receive a booster appropriate to his size at the time, then it’s a simple once-a-year injection along with his vaccines each year. We send out free SMS/email reminders when these boosters are due. It really is the easiest and most effective way to prevent this deadly disease, with no risk of forgetting to give tablets at home. Chisel’s owners have several other pets at home, so this takes the pressure off the family, knowing he is protected! Heartworm prevention is one of the most important things you must do for the health of your dog.
And as you can see from the gorgeous picture below, Chisel was once again a perfect little boy when he received his vaccination. Can you honestly believe how fast he is growing!
We’ve also setup Chisel with enough worming and flea/tick control products to last him for the next 3 months.
We recommend Drontal Allwormer because it kills the biggest range of intestinal parasites.
We recommend Simparica for flea and tick control, which is a simple once-a-month flavoured tablet. We’ve pulled different-sized tablets from different boxes to customize the course for Chisel expected continued growth over the next few months.
We’ve setup free monthly SMS reminders to tell Chisel’s owners when each of these monthly doses is due. There’s a lot to do and remember when caring for a young puppy, but we do everything we can to help and make it easy for our clients. And we even give a $50 discount for all our clients taking up this heartworm/flea/worm program for their puppy!
Chisel’s next blog will be his Puppy Preschool graduation next week, followed by his final puppy vaccination at 14 weeks of age.
